What is Shakti Marg?

Shakti Marg is a mainstream non-sectarian British Hindu group brought together by Hindus from various Dharmic traditions.

Is it a Shakta Sect then?

Shakti Marg is NOT a sect. Staying true to the inclusive and pluralistic nature of Hinduism, Shakti Marg projects all aspects, including the great traditions of Shaivas, Vaishnavas, Shaktas, Vedantics and other Pagan traditions in conformity to Sanatana Dharma.

Why would a mainstream Hindu group call themselves 'Shakti Marg'?

Shakti signifies the everlasting driving force behind the manifestation of the entire Cosmos, the actual matrix of Creation. Shakti Marg means the way to rediscover and use this energy to re-establish Dharma through all the expressive forms of Hinduism.

Shakti is also a name for it's embodiment as the great Goddess. In Europe the feminine aspect of divinity is rarely invoked, so much so that the Goddess has been removed from our collective consciousness. In most ancient traditions, the Mother Goddess was worshipped universally but as new religious ideologies came into being they promoted a masculine concept of god. Hinduism has (fortunately) kept alive both the traditions of the Goddesses and the Gods recognizing the importance of spiritual equilibrium in society. In the Hindu tradition the mother goddess signifies rebirth and renewal of life, culture and spiritual development. As such it is also our dharma to help promote that heritage here in Europe.

Why the need for Shakti Marg?

Shakti Marg exists to provide a creative space for exchange of ideas to provide Hindus with an opportunity to develop a confident Hindu identity. This includes the chance to explore the multifaceted Hindu spirituality and culture in both traditional and contemporary contexts. It is a platform for exchanging creative, artistic and intellectual ideas in order to promote the idea of a unified Hindu consciousness to both the Hindu and non- Hindu community in this post-modern world.

Who is your founder/guru?

Shakti Marg has no founder. We are an organic group arising out of the collective Hindu consciousness and as such the group is defined by its members evolving along Dharmic principles, where new members can continue to bring their own original ideas, talents and skills.

Also the group is advised by various specialists in Hinduism and currently this is The Team

How can I benefit by joining Shakti Marg?

For a Hindu person it will help to understand your history, culture, and your traditions and by gaining this understanding it can lead to an enrichment of the society you live in. You will also be in touch with a network of like minded Hindus.

We warmly welcome non-Hindus since they will come to a better understanding of Hinduism. Doing so they can learn how by following Dharma they can enhance their lives and live in harmony with the world around them.
